Phuket Island derives its name from the Tamil manikram, or crystal mountain. For the longest time, Phucket was known as Junk Ceylon. Phuket is a tropical island connected by bridges to southern Thailand's Andaman Sea coast in the Indian Ocean.



Phuket was established as a Dutch trading post in the 16th century. Phang-nga Province held vast tin reserves at the time. In the mid 18th century, Phucket was sacked by the Burmese. The Burmes occumation was short lived as Phukt led a successful defense.

This year is the best time to visit Thailand as we all know that Thailand is the best destination in Asia.
