Shanghai not only demonstrates the east meets west history of China but is a truly modern city showing where China is headed in the future. There is significant amount of western influence mixed with ancient Chineese tea houses. Some of the best shopping in China is located along Nanjing Lu in Shanghai. Seeing Shanghai can be accomplished on your own or with an organized tour. Either way the big tourist attractions include the Bund, Yun Yuan (Old Town), and Shanghai Museums and Hauangpu River Cruises.
If you are planning on visiting China for the 2008 Summer Olymics, you will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable your Olympic China vacation can be. Accomodations are available today for much less than European or North American prices. Airfare to China for the 2008 Olympics can be a bit expensive, but their are some China airfare deals available if you are flexible with your itinerary. I am so excited about the summer olympics in China. I have already bought my plane ticket and got a terrific hotel room in the downtown Beijing. You'll be sorry if you wait any longer to plan your itineray. Prices continue to rise the closer we get to 2008
